NOWSI, the Natural Organized Woman Society, Incorporated, is a transformative organization dedicated to being a “Life Savings Resource” for women and their families. Founded in 2003 and incorporated as a nonprofit in 2006, NOWSI has grown to become a beacon of hope and support for women across the United States.
Mission and Initiatives: NOWSI’s primary mission is to empower and educate women on various aspects of health and wellness, including cardiovascular health, effective time management for health awareness. Additionally, we are addressing domestic violence prevention, mentoring at-risk teenage girls, and more. Their initiatives are designed to address critical issues affecting women and families, and they include:
1. Women’s Cardiovascular Health: NOWSI is committed to saving lives by raising awareness about cardiovascular diseases, heart attacks, and strokes. They provide life-saving resources, education, and support to ensure that women have the knowledge and tools to protect their heart health.
2. Domestic Violence Support: NOWSI is a lifeline for survivors of domestic violence. They offer counseling, support, and temporary emergency housing to help victims rebuild their lives. With a mission to eliminate violence against women, NOWSI stands as a pillar of strength and healing.
3. Mentoring Girls through Across Ages: NOWSI’s Across Ages program is dedicated to at-risk girls aged 9 to 13. They provide mentorship, academic support, and motivation to keep girls in school and engaged in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects. NOWSI’s goal is to guide these girls toward brighter futures.
4. Pledge Program: NOWSI’s unique fundraising pledge program is a testament to their commitment to empowering women and girls. To fund our initiatives, we ask our new member Pledgees are tasked with fundraising $2,500 and recruiting 10 other women who share the vision of NOWSI. This initiative raises funds and brings more members into the NOWSI family, enhancing their ability to support the community.
