Understanding Cardiovascular Disease

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of death worldwide, with women being particularly vulnerable. It’s crucial to raise awareness about CVD risk factors and prevention strategies to save lives.

Many women have their own stories of encountering CVD, whether personally or through a loved one. We invite you to share your experiences and insights in the comments below. By sharing our stories, we can learn from each other and support one another in our journeys towards heart health. What’s your story?

Here are some life-saving tips to lower your risk of CVD:

  • Maintain a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.
  • Engage in regular physical activity, aiming for at least 30 minutes most days of the week.
  • Avoid smoking and limit alcohol consumption.
  • Monitor your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and blood sugar regularly.
  • Seek medical attention promptly if you experience any symptoms of heart disease or stroke.

In one year alone, 436,000 Americans die from a cardiac arrest.

Cardiac arrest claims more lives than colorectal cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, influenza, pneumonia, auto accidents, HIV, firearms, and house fires combined.
